More than two years after the dark drama’s debut on HBO Max, Euphoria has finally given fans something to be euphoric about: a premiere date for Season 2. While the breakout series was first renewed just a month after its summer 2019 premiere, filming on Season was continually delayed due to COVID-19, leaving viewers with plenty of time to speculate about what’s next for the splashy show.

“Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya,” HBO’s EVP Programming Francesca Orsi said when the series was first renewed. “We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series. We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit.”

Now, with Season 2 finally set to premiere in January 2022, it appears that the gritty, Gen Z-focused series will pick up where it left off with high-schoolers Rue (Zendaya), Jules (Hunter Schafer) and the rest.

“It’s a challenging season,” Zendaya told TeenVogue while filming Season 2. “It’s gonna be hard and it’s gonna be devastating sometimes, but I think Rue really deserves all of that care when it comes to her character, because I think she represents a lot for so many people.”

As we wait to see what twists and turns our favorite (and not so favorite) characters have in store for the show’s sophomore season, here’s everything we know so far about Euphoria Season 2.

Is there a Euphoria Season 2 trailer?

Along with a release date, HBO Max’s Nov. 23 announcement treated fans to a short sneak peek at the season. And while the show itself—which lists Drake among its executive producers—may be modern and edgy, the clip sees Rue dancing and lip syncing to something a little more old-school: Frank Sinatra’s “Call Me Irresponsible.” With lyrics fittingly including “call me unpredictable,” it’s safe to say this season will keep us guessing.

In addition to a (seemingly not sober) Rue, the trailer also gives a glimpse at the rest of the series’ characters, including Nate, Fezco, Maddy, Jules and Cassie. Beyond the show’s signature parties and candy-colored chaos, there are also flashes of violence and police lights, foreshadowing a darker direction.

“When you’re younger, everything feels so permanent,” Rue deadpans in the background. “But as you get older, you begin to realize nothing is. And everyone you love can drift away.”

There was also a much simpler 23-second teaser dropped back in June 2021, where Rue and Jules silently make eye contact across the high school hallway.
